A short study was commissioned by one of the private parties holding a position in Eindhovens great Strijp S transformation project. We tried to apply some of theselessons learned in transformation of Amsterdam’s IJ banks. The history of development and the original planning concepts for the area’s ‘first life’ should and can be recognised. Our proposal unites parts of the Strijp area on both sides of the Eindhoven ring road. Using structures, directions and elements of several past periods from the area lead to new characteristics for public space, building envelopes and traffic.
